Sign in
You don’t need an account to use Cuewire. You sign in for the paid plans and for what comes with them, such as the phone companion and settings sync. This page shows how to sign in with an emailed code, and how to sign out.
Figure: There is no password. Cuewire emails you a code each time you sign in.
Sign in with an emailed code
- Click Sign in at the bottom of the sidebar. The Account sheet opens.
- Type your email address and click Email me a code, or press
Enter. - Open the email from Cuewire, with the subject Your Cuewire sign-in code. The code has eight digits, shown in two groups, for example 9914 0758.
- Back in Cuewire, type the code and click Sign in, or press
Enter.
Figure: Type the code from the email. Spaces and dashes are fine.
You are signed in. The button at the bottom of the sidebar now shows your plan, for example Pro trial. A new account starts with a 14-day free trial of Pro. See Plans, the free trial and pricing.
About the code:
- Type it with or without the space.
99140758,9914 0758and9914-0758all work. - It expires after 15 minutes, and it works once.
- After five wrong tries, it stops working. Ask for a new one.
Tip
No email after a minute or two? Check your spam or junk folder. Then click Use another email, check the address, and click Email me a code again.
If someone else asks for a code for your address, they can’t use yours. A code works only in the Cuewire app that asked for it. If you get a code you didn’t ask for, ignore the email. Nobody can sign in without the code.
Sign in through your organisation
Your organisation may sign in its members through its own identity provider, such as Okta or Entra ID. Then, after you type your email, Cuewire opens your browser instead of emailing a code.
- Type your work email and click Email me a code.
- Your browser opens on a Cuewire page that names your organisation’s provider and your address. Continue there and sign in as usual.
- When you finish, the browser hands the sign-in back to Cuewire. The Account sheet picks it up by itself.
While it waits, the sheet says Continue in your browser: your organisation signs … in. If you closed the browser tab, click Open the browser again. If it takes more than 10 minutes, Cuewire says Signing in took too long; start again.
See Teams and organisations for how admins set this up.
Your account panel
Click your plan’s name at the bottom of the sidebar to open the Account sheet again. It shows:
- your plan: Free plan, Pro trial, Pro plan, Team plan or Enterprise plan;
- a line about your licence, such as how long it works offline;
- Upgrade to Pro, while you are on Free or on the trial;
- Team…, to start or join an organisation;
- Sign out and Close.

Your computers
You can be signed in on up to 5 computers with one account. To sign in on another computer, sign out on one you no longer use.
Cuewire keeps your sign-in in your system’s keychain (Credential Manager, Keychain or the Secret Service), never in a file. It checks your licence when it starts and every six hours.
Sign out
- Click your plan’s name at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Click Sign out.
Signing out removes this computer from your account and removes its licence. Cuewire goes back to the Free plan on this computer. Your canvases, notes and settings stay. If you were in an organisation, its shared roles and arrangements go from this computer.
